Old Forester Releases its Rarest Bottle Ever in its 150th Anniversary Offering
Old Forester is celebrating its 150th anniversary with the release of its rarest bottle yet – 150 handmade decanters filled with exquisite bourbon aged 150 months. Old Forester’s 150th Anniversary expression will go on sale on November 16 on OldForester.com.
Originally reserved for the Brown Family but now open to the public at $2,500 apiece, each purchase of this special decanter comes with a VIP tour of the Old Forester distillery and a private reception with the Brown family on December 5 – the anniversary of the repeal of Prohibition.
For even more heritage on this limited run product, the decanter is packaged with wood recovered from the fire at Old Forester on Whiskey Row in 2015, and the bottle design is inspired by the Old Forester history holiday decanters from the ‘50s and ‘60s created by the father of industrial design, Raymond Lowey.
But that’s not all…Old Forester’s history is also being honored as part of a year-long exhibit at the Frazier Museum in downtown Louisville – a landmark founded by Brown-family member, Owsley Brown Frazier, that starts the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. The exhibit tells the story of the mid-century decanters that inspired the 150th anniversary release.
