Northern Kentucky’s Augusta Distillery 13 Year Bourbon Crowned “Best In The World”

Big Bourbon news just seems to keep coming from Northern Kentucky. The region’s Bourbon immersed “B-Line“, a collection of distilleries, bars and restaurants all paying homage to Kentucky’s treasured liquid, just added 5 new spots. As if that wasn’t enough to be stoked about, NKY based Augusta Distillery dropped jaws in their 13 Year Buckner’s Bourbon being crowned “Best Bourbon In The World” at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC).

Augusta Distillery is a relative newcomer, launched in 2018. But in the grand scheme of things, its home of Bracken County, KY, sits directly on the Ohio River – hallowed ground for Bourbon roots. Nestled between Newport’s New Riff Distillery and Maysville’s Old Pogue Distillery, this is where Bourbon all begin back in the river days of the late 18th and early 19th century.

Augusta Distillery co-founders Lance and Lalani Bates have been busy bees. They took over and renovated the town’s Beehive Tavern in 2017. As if that wasn’t enough, they would go on to co-found Augusta Distillery in 2018. Judd Weis, a college friend of Lance, along with two other couples are off to fast start. They purchased an early 1800’s production building containing 40,000 squ. ft. with plans for a $23 million distillery experience.

Oh, to sweeten the honey pot, Augusta also won Best Single Barrel Bourbon in the 11 years and older category in the SFWSC.
